Familiar problems

Without a TIG, and with a bad TIG

01 · Filling in by hand

On paper after every trip

After every trip, every field has to be filled in by hand. Drivers forget, fill it in wrong, or simply don't do it.

02 · Lost TIG documents

Sheets that disappear

Paper TIG documents get lost, crumpled, and never make it into the folder. At a NAV inspection it turns out the archive is incomplete.

03 · NAV inspection

A fine for incomplete documentation

If TIG documentation is incomplete or incorrect, NAV can impose a fine. The error sources of manual fill-in easily lead to fines.

04 · Searchability

Searching through mountains of paper

Finding the data of a trip from two years ago in the paper records — nearly impossible, and hugely time-consuming.

05 · Data quality

Everyone fills it in differently

Different drivers fill in the TIG in different formats and with different levels of detail. Data quality can't be checked.

06 · Export and archiving

Exporting for the accountant — by hand

Exporting TIG data by hand for reconciliation with the accountant or to prepare for an inspection can take hours a month.

Solution · SimpliFleet TIG generation

How SimpliFleet's TIG generation works

01

Recording a trip

The driver records the trip: vehicle, route (departure and arrival), cargo information. The system fills in all TIG fields automatically from the recorded data.

02

Automatic TIG generation

The required TIG fields — date, driver, vehicle registration, route, kilometres travelled, cargo — are filled in automatically. The data is validated and archived.

03

Export and archiving

Exportable in one click in a format designed to meet NAV requirements. Every TIG is searchable and filterable by date, vehicle or driver — going back years.

Approval

Digital signature and approval

The TIG can be approved and signed digitally within the system. No printing, no scanning — the whole process is digital.

Archive

Searchable archive (2+ years)

Every TIG document is stored in a searchable, filterable archive. Filter by date, vehicle, driver or route — you find what you need in minutes.

Integration

Integration with the SimpliFleet modules

TIG generation works in an integrated way with the digital waybill, the maintenance module and the driver records. A single trip entry produces every document you need.

Frequently asked questions

TIG generation — what most people ask

What is a TIG (goods-vehicle usage log)?
A TIG (goods-vehicle usage log) is a mandatory document required by NAV that must be issued for every trip of every goods vehicle. It must record: the date of the trip, the driver's name and details, the vehicle's registration, the route (place of departure and arrival), the kilometres travelled, and details of the cargo carried. The purpose of the TIG is to support the recorded use of the vehicle during an inspection.
When is keeping a TIG mandatory?
A TIG must be kept for every goods vehicle used for commercial freight transport. This applies to both owned and rented goods vehicles. The obligation generally applies to goods vehicles over 3.5 tonnes, but in some cases it may also be required for smaller vehicles. For detailed information, consult an accountant or the relevant NAV department.
How does SimpliFleet produce the TIG?
SimpliFleet automatically generates the TIG from every recorded trip. The driver records the trip (selecting the vehicle, entering the route and cargo information), and the system automatically fills in the required TIG fields: date, driver details, vehicle registration, place of departure and arrival, kilometres travelled, cargo. The completed TIG is available immediately, is exportable, and goes into a searchable archive.
Is the TIG generated by SimpliFleet designed to meet NAV requirements?
SimpliFleet's TIG export is produced in a format designed to meet NAV requirements. The digitally generated and stored TIG documents are available in an exportable format. For specific compliance questions, we recommend consulting an accountant or tax adviser in light of the laws in force at the time.
How long must TIG documents be kept?
Under the relevant laws, TIG documents generally have to be kept for at least 5 years. SimpliFleet stores all generated TIG documents in a searchable archive — filterable by date, vehicle and driver. For exact retention obligations, ask your accountant.
Do I need a credit card for the 60-day trial?
No. The SimpliFleet 60-day trial starts with no credit card and no lock-in. Every feature — including TIG generation, the digital waybill and document-expiry tracking — is available during the trial. After it ends, you're free to decide whether to continue the subscription.
What other documents does SimpliFleet generate?
Besides the TIG, SimpliFleet also handles digital waybills (trip logs), which are also designed to meet NAV requirements. The system also tracks document expiry (driving licence, MOT, insurance), records maintenance events, and manages driver-vehicle assignments. Every module works in an integrated way — a single trip entry produces both the TIG and the waybill. See the solution for hauliers → page.
